Purchase LLC Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 1, 2018

Purchase LLC (“we”, “us”, or “Purchase”) respects the privacy of our users. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes our privacy practices concerning information collected in connection with the Purchase website, located at www.purchase.tech (the “Site”), and the Purchase platform subscribed to by Purchase Customers (the “Service”).

This Policy is intended to explain the conditions under which Purchase collects, uses, and discloses Personal and Other information in connection with the Site and Service, and your rights in relation to that information. By visiting our Site and/or using the features made available to you on the Site, or using the Service, you are agreeing to the terms of this Policy.

The Personal and Other information that we collect about you is controlled by Purchase LLC, which is headquartered in the United States at 27 Rutland St. Unit 2, Boston, MA 02118.

Our Stance on Privacy

Purchase aims to provide a great, trusted product and service to our customers. We do plan on using anonymized aggregate data to improve the product for those same customers. Moreover, we will never sell our customers data, identity, or contact information to third parties or vendors, as that would be a violation of our promise and trust. Any feature that requires sharing of personally identifiable information will be strictly opt-in.

The rest of this privacy policy goes into more specific legal details, and if you have questions, feel free to reach out at privacy@purchase.tech.

What Personal and Other Information we collect about you

Purchase collects limited “Personal Information” and “Other Information” about Site and Service users. For purposes of this Policy, Other Information is information that Purchase cannot directly associate with a specific person without the aid of additional information. By contrast, Personal Information is information such as a name or email address that Purchase can directly associate with a specific person or entity without additional information. When we combine Other Information with Personal Information, we treat all of the combined information as Personal Information.

Personal Information

You can visit the Site without submitting any Personal Information. However, if you decide to fill out one of our website forms, you will be required to provide Personal Information including name, email address, and company name. Likewise, if you choose to sign-up for the Service as a Customer, you will be required to provide Personal Information including, some or all: name, address, email address, job role, and company name.

We may combine Personal Information collected through the Site and/or Service with Other information that we or third parties collect about you in other contexts—such as our communications with you via email, phone, online support forums, or social media, or your customer service records. We will treat such combined information as Personal Information and protect it in accordance with this Policy.

Web log data

When you use the Site or Service, Purchase may automatically receive and record certain information from your computer (or other device) and your browser. This may include such data as your IP address and domain name, the pages you visit on the Site or Service, the date and time of your visit, the files that you download, the URLs from the websites you visit before and after navigating to the Site, your software and hardware attributes (including device IDs), your general geographic location (e.g., your city, state, or metropolitan region), and certain cookie information (see below). To obtain such information, we may use web logs or applications that recognize your computer and gather information about its online activity.

Cookies

We may also use cookies on the Site and/or Service. Cookies are small files that are stored on your computer by your web browser. A cookie allows the Site to recognize whether you have visited before and may store user preferences and other information. For example, cookies can be used to collect information about your use of the Site during your current session and over time (including the pages you view and the files you download), your computer’s operating system and browser type, your Internet service provider, your domain name and IP address, your general geographic location, the website that you visited before the Site, and the link you used to leave the Site. If you are concerned about having cookies on your computer, you can set your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being set, allowing you to decide whether to accept it. You can also delete cookies from your computer. However, if you choose to block or delete cookies, certain features of the Site may not operate correctly.

Web beacons

The Site, Service, or the emails that you receive from Purchase may use an application known as a “web beacon” (also known as a “clear gif” or “web bug”). A web beacon is an electronic file that usually consists of a single-pixel image. It can be embedded in a web page or in an email to transmit information, which could include Personal Information. For example, it allows an email sender to determine whether a user has opened a particular email.

Third-party online tracking and behavioral advertising.

We also may partner with certain third parties to collect, analyze, and use some of the Personal and Other Information described in this section. For example, we may allow third parties to set cookies or use web beacons on the Site, Service, or in email communications from Purchase. This information may be used for a variety of purposes, including online behavioral advertising, as discussed below (see the section entitled “How we share Personal and Other Information with third parties”).

How we use the Personal and Other Information that we collect

We use the Other Information that we collect for such purposes as: counting and recognizing visitors to the Site; analyzing how visitors use the Site and various Site features; improving the Site and enhancing users’ experiences with the Site; creating new products and services or improving our existing products and services; enabling additional website analytics and research concerning the Site; and managing our business. Purchase may link Other Information gathered using cookies and web beacons with Personal Information. But in that event, we will treat the combined information as Personal Information.

If you opt in to receive marketing emails from us, we also may use the Personal and Other Information that we collect to send you promotional communications, including emails or postal mail about the products and services offered by Purchase or our partners. Although we hope you will find our promotional emails of interest, you may opt out of receiving them by sending an email to privacy@purchase.tech with “optout” in the subject line. Promotional emails will also have instructions for opting out of that type of communication in the future.

How we share Personal and Other Information with Third Parties

We share your Personal Information and Other Information with other parties for a limited set of purposes, primarily to help improve our product and service, as described below.

Analytics and online behavioral advertising

We partner with certain third parties to collect the Other Information discussed above and to engage in analysis, auditing, research, and reporting. These third parties may use web logs or web beacons, and they may set and access cookies on your computer or other device. In particular, the Site and Service may use Google Analytics, Customer.io, Amplitude, Segment, and Facebook Pixels to help collect and analyze certain information for the purposes discussed above. You may opt out of the use of cookies by Google Analytics here and Facebook Pixels here.

The Site also enables third-party tracking mechanisms to collect your Other Information for use in online behavioral advertising, including AdRoll. For example, third parties may use the fact that you visited the Site to target online ads for Purchase services to you on non-Purchase websites. In addition, our third-party advertising networks might use information about your use of the Site or Service to help target non-Purchase advertisements based on your online behavior in general. For information about behavioral advertising practices, including privacy and confidentiality, visit the Network Advertising Initiative website or the Digital Advertising Alliance website. Our third party provider is compliant with GDPR and will only offer re-targeting to users who have opted in.

If you are a Collector: The Collector Service also enables third-party tracking mechanisms to collect your Other Information for use in online behavioral advertising. For example, third parties may use the fact that you visited the Service to target online ads for Purchase services to you on non-Purchase websites.

The use of online tracking mechanisms by third parties is subject to those third parties’ own privacy policies, and not this Policy. If you prefer to prevent third parties from setting and accessing cookies on your computer, you may set your browser to block cookies. Additionally, you may remove yourself from the targeted advertising of companies within the Network Advertising Initiative by opting out here, or of companies participating in the Digital Advertising Alliance program by opting out here. Although our website currently does not respond to “do not track” browser headers, you can limit tracking through these third-party programs and by taking the other steps discussed above.

We also may share your Personal or Other Information with other third parties when necessary to fulfill your requests for services; to complete a transaction that you initiate; to meet the terms of any agreement that you have with us or our partners; or to manage our business. The use of online tracking mechanisms by third parties is subject to those third parties’ own privacy policies, and not this Policy.
